The Cottage House Museum

The Marguerite Rogers House Museum, built by John G. Slover in the early 1900's, is located at 113 East Dumble in Alvin, Texas. In 1938 James A. and Marguerite Rogers bought the house. The Rogers' daughter, Emaline, bequeathed the property to the Alvin Museum Society in 1995. The Society restored the home and named it Marguerite Rogers House Museum, in honor of Emaline's mother.

The Marguerite Rogers House Museum is owned and operated by the Alvin Museum Society. Tours of The Cottage and Grounds are conducted by Docents by reservation only. Please call 281-331-4469 for information.

The Cottage House Museum is located at 113 East Dumble, Alvin, Texas. Admission is $3.00; for children under 12 the tour is free. Proceeds are used for maintaining The Cottage.

"Teapots & Teacups" Exhibit


"Teapots & Teacups Spring Exhibit" begins Thursday, April 5 through Friday, May 25, 2007 at The Cottage House Museum. The exhibit will be on display during the regular tour schedule and also on Saturday, April 21 for the Alvin Area Garden Tour. There will be a variety of teapots and teacups on display including antiques and collectibles, as well as unique and whimsical ones. The docents have put together a lovely display and you will want to make plans to see it. To schedule a special tour, call 281-585-2803.

Garden Tour Planned


The 8th Annual Alvin Area Garden Tour is set for Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Alvin Garden Club and Alvin Museum Society co-sponsor this annual event. Proceeds from the tour funds maintenance of The Marguerite Rogers House Museum. The popular plant sale will be on the grounds of The Cottage. The private garden sites will be announced later.

Advance tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased from Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce, Alvin Senior Citizens Center, or drive-thru windows of Guaranty Bank. Tickets on the day of the event will be $6.00 and available at each garden site. For more information, call 281-393-1538.
