The Myrtles

After Mr. Slover died in 1923, his widow married Moses J. Bass who lived in The Cottage until 1934 when he moved to San Antonio. When Mr. Bass owned the home, he planted pink crepe myrtle trees along the property line and along what is now Dumble Street. He appropriately named his place "The Myrtles."

Sign Points Way to Cottage Museum

Pictured are Bobbie Case and Jean Vance, Alvin Museum Society members and volunteer docents at the Marguerite Rogers House Museum, along with Luci Guerrera of Guaranty Bank. They are "showing off" the sign on Gordon Street pointing the way to The Cottage House. The sign was made possible by Guaranty Bank of Alvin.

The Marguerite Rogers House Museum is located at 113 E. Dumble (just east of Gordon St.) in Alvin. Tour days are Thursday, Friday and the first Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. For more information, call 281-585-2803.
